Samantha stepped onto what were the Ashten Lands, observing what she could see in front of her. Usually her parents would be disproving of her going out on her own like this, but she was sure that she'd be fine- she had heard about there not being much pokemon here anymore, and whatever ones were here were likely to be fire types, and she was very confident that she could win against her own type advantage.
It was her own adventurous nature that brought her here- wanting to see things that she hadn't seen before.

Vixen padded silently through the Ashten Lands. Even though this place was pretty inhospitable, she felt quite at home here. Vixen stopped and closed her eyes as a gust of hot wind blew through her fur and ruffled her nine tails.
A strange scent interrupted her reverie. Vixen opened her eyes and followed the scent. It didn't take her long to find the source. It was a Pokemon but not just any Pokemon. A Piplup. Vixen shook her head, which made the small mane around her neck fluff up. Even though this Pokemon had a type advantage, it was still un-evolved. Un-evolved Pokemon usually didn't last very long on their own, even fire types.

Well, here goes. Samantha thought as she walked further into the lands, and didn't go too far when she spotted another pokemon. Adjusting her spectacles, she saw that it was a fox-like pokemon- Ninetails. She had read before that they could apparently cause curses, especially if you were to pull on one of their tails. Sam had always thought this to be hearsay- not that she'd do such a rude action anyways, but a pokemon who wasn't even a ghost type really causing a 1,000 year curse seemed ridiculous to her.
"Uh, hello!" she said, waving a bit, "I don't mean you any harm- unless you want me to, that is." she was confident that she could take on the pokemon herself, even if they were an evolution stage beyond her.

Vixen carefully walked towards the Piplup. She noticed the water Pokemon was wearing glasses and suppressed a chuckle.
"Hello. That is reassuring. I'd rather you didn't harm me for two reasons. One, you are an intruder here, and two, if I get irritated, you will see a dark side to my countenance. However, there are Pokemon here who are very territorial and will attack you on sight."
Even though Vixen's tone was pleasant, albeit a little curt, she was serious and hoped the Piplup would heed her warning.

"An intruder?" Samantha said, not quite getting as to how she could be one, "You mean here? That seems a bit much, doesn't it, to just ban all outsiders from an entire place. At the very least, they could place some sort of warning..."
She adjusted her spectacles, "Still, thanks for telling me. However," she puffed up her chest, "I'm fairly sure that I can handle anyone who'd try to attack me."

Vixen sighed. She wasn't sure if the Piplup was pretending to be stupid or if she was genuinely thick. "Yes, you are an outsider after all. Obviously, I mean here. We don't ban all outsiders. If you are a fire type, you will be allowed to remain here, as long as you can prove you can hold your own. As for warnings, this is a hostile place so warnings are unnecessary."
Vixen shook herself and flexed her nine tails. This Pokemon was beginning to try her patience. "You're welcome. Oh, really? How brave, or foolish."

(( I've PMed you about the thread, Runa.
Also, on a side note, I've decided that having moves from a previous evolution is fine. Would you want to change your character's moveset, by any chance? ))

Hostile? Samantha looked around herself, not seeing any nearby danger, and honestly didn't think the place looked all that threatening. Perhaps the Ninetails was just underestimating her.
Despite saying she was 'brave', Sam had a feeling that the remark was meant to be more insulting, "Look, I know I'm a first-stage pokemon, but I'm just fine. I have the advantages here." she said, seeming so sure of herself, "Now, if you excuse me, I have some exploring to do." that being said, she moved forward, now even more determined to explore what was new land to her.
Eventually, she stumbled upon a cave, Maybe... I should go back. she thought, recalling the Ninetails warning, but shook her head, No, I'm not completely weak- or stupid! I'll just be really careful, that's all. Peeking around the entrance, she entered it, but it wasn't long before she heard the roar of a disturbed pokemon.

Vixen sighed as the Piplup claimed that she was tougher than she appeared and went into a cave to explore. She was thinking of leaving the water Pokemon alone in the cave, when she heard an angry roar.
"Why am I not surprised? I knew this would happen", Vixen grumbled to herself as she sprinted towards the cave.

Now Samantha was starting to feel afraid, backing up from the entrance of the cave. Still, trying to prove some sort of point, she stood her ground, deciding to fight whatever made that roar.
Out from the cave came a Tysplosion, looking very angry at whoever this intruder was. He stared down at Samantha, giving her a glare before throwing out flames from his mouth, aiming at the smaller, blue pokemon.

Vixen took a flying leap and attempted to knock the Piplup away from Typhlosion's attack. She couldn't believe the water Pokemon's stupidity.

Samantha braced herself for the hit- she was a water type, so she should be able to take it, right? Closing her eyes and ready to take the hit, she felt a force at her side, and was pushed away, rolling across the ground. Great, there was another pokemon too? Not that she couldn't fight (as she believed, anyways), but now might be the time to run...
Opening her eyes, she found herself surprised to see a familiar face, "You?! Wait, watch out!" she said, realizing that the Ninetails was now in the fire's way.

Vixen heard the Piplup shout something and saw the fire. She braced herself as the flames hit her and used her Flash Fire ability. Instead of burning her to a crisp, the flames did not do much damage and strengthened her own attacks.
"You'll have to do better than that," she said smugly, before firing a Confuse Ray at the Typhlosion.

Sure, the Ninetails had a type advantage, but still- it took Sam a moment to realize that she was completely unscathed. Was the attack that weak, or was she too strong, or...? An immunity? But usually fire types didn't... Sam shook her head, getting herself up. Contemplation would have to come later.
The Tysplosion stood bewildered- mostly because of the confusion that had just hit them. Roaring again in anger, they stumbled backwards, before charging forward again, wanting to hit either of them with Double Edge if they could.
