A cold mist covered the forest floor to the tops of the weak, frazzled branches of the barren trees. One could assume that the forest was simply 'dead' and dry of any life from outside appearances, but inside it was teaming with pokemon alike, and an atmosphere built through reputation.
Whether or not the rumors about this forest were true was up to the pokemon going into it, whether it be through a dare or bravery on their own part.
-
Sam peered into the forest, almost questioning if it were her glasses or that the fog was really that thick. Had it just gotten thicker, or had she not noticed when she stormed in earlier? Fog or no fog, the Piplup was sure that she was ready for the challenge, and that Syd would be as well. As for the cat... well, he'd better be ready. She wouldn't want to go back for him (despite being the one who requested that he go with them in the first place).
"So," she said, adjusting her glasses, "ready to go in?" she asked, looking at the entrance again.

Syd took a step near the forest blinking before smiling and poking at his bandage before putting both hands at his sides. "Ready than I'll ever be." He said enthusiastically, looking at his partner. "With the tw- er, three of us- I'm sure this'll be a windy breeze."

It wasn't like he was fashionably late or anything. Oh, no. He had arrived twenty minutes earlier to scout out the area, allowing his eyes to adjust to the fog. He was used to the dark. It was hard not to be when you lived in Candle Town. The feline slipped out of the shadows, his cocky smirk plastered upon his face as he caught sight of the two water types from earlier. He strode up to the two on his hind legs, flicking his tail back and forth behind him. "This will be easier than a 'windy breeze'." He chuckled to himself, narrowed eyes glancing between the two.

Sam nodded to her partner, but her default reaction to Kura seemed to be just rolling her eyes, "It's only because of our help, really." she replied, adjusting her glasses, "Anyways, let's get to it already!" she said, stepping into the forest. Sam was tempted to run through it again, as that appeared to work with the first section last time, but was more considerate now that her partner was here.
(( If any of you want, I could just GM a little and assume that your characters entered the dungeon. ))

The three began their travels in the foggy forest. The trees served as 'walls', but just barely, as pokemon usually had to find their own paths through the forest. Combined with the fog, it could be very easy for pokemon to lose themselves within it.
Up ahead, there was a somewhat unexpected sight. A contraption of sorts showed itself, being built around one of the barren trees. At the very top, hanging on a rope, was a bag that could hold just about anything. A trap, perhaps? Maybe an unfinished one, as everything was unveiled. To the side was a lever system, and all sorts of ropes. One might get the bag down, the others... well, there was only one way to find out.
-
How did she barrel through this place?! Sam stuck out a bit from the group, as if she wanted to lead, but was careful as to not stray too far from there. In the blink of an eye someone could get lost easily, "... Did we pass this place alre-wha?" she stopped, looking over the contraption. Having heard more of the ghost stories and other various rumors that surrounded this place, Sam was more unaware of the ghost's pranking nature.
Sam scanned the contraption, eventually looking up to find a small bag. It could hold anything. Looking to the side, there was a series of levers, and ropes that appeared to be tied to said levers. One of them might get the bag down, the others... well, who knows what they might do.
Sam smirked; even if the bag turned out to be worthless, she thought that the challenge was satisfying enough, "I'll do it. I can pull the levers." she volunteered.

"Then I'll grab the bag." Sydney volunteered afterwards, smirking. "The first lever you fiddle with may not be the one that holds the bag, but I'll use the one it triggers to hop over to the one that holds it." He looks up, gulping. "On second thought, if the first lever you pull is the bag's rope's trigger, I'll take it from there.. This looks a bit convoluted.."
Syd looked at his scalchop, sighing. It wasn't nearly as sharp as when it's in Razor Shell mode. He could never get it down, not even when his parents tried teaching him. If it was sharp enough, a precise toss would probably make the puzzle a snap.

Kuranosuke watched the two water types with feigned interest, leaning up against a tree trunk off in the distance. His tail twitched low to the ground, arms crossed over his chest. He could easily just climb up there and cut the bag down, no levers needed. It was probably a trap as well, or it had something unwanted to the rest of the world. "There's probably a dead body in there, kids." He sneered, chuckling to himself.
The feline dropped down on all fours, slinking over to the poor tree that was victim to this trap. He stared up at it, glancing over to the Oshawott then the Piplup. He didn't like the smell of it. Oh well. If the two wanted to get themselves potentially killed, they could be his guest. It would make his job a lot easier. With a flick of the tail, he bounded away from the contraption, stopping a safe distance away.

"Oh, what do you know?" Sam replied with a usual, annoyed reaction towards him. She couldn't even imagine how... how they'd even get it up there... she shivered at the thought, wishing that it hadn't entered her mind, "We don't need your help anyways... stupid cat..." she mumbled, somewhat bothered by his lack of participation, but decided to herself that he'd somehow mess something up anyways. She was sure of that.
She stepped forward to the levers, trying to analyze the ropes and figure out what corresponded to what, but the combination of fog and the ropes tangled together made it difficult to do so. Still, she tried, and thinking that she had an answer, her flipper hovered over a lever; second to the last one on the left.
"Alright," she said, looking to her partner, and then back to the lever, "here we go..." she pushed on it, tensing a bit at what might happen.
---
There was a cranking noise, and the sound of something working. A snap, and a hidden rope was pulled, tying itself around the Piplup's foot and hoisting her up in the air.

Syd made sure he was prepared to move as soon as the ropes did, but he froze when he saw what the first activated lever had done. Immediately he forgot about the bag to quickly stare up at his partner. He should have known there were going to be traps among this puzzle, and mentally scolded himself for not following his bad feeling. "Oh, boy.. Er, Sam, just stay there and I'll cut you down.." He quickly told her.
He soon started to panic slightly until he got a bit of a daring idea. Getting into position and taking the scalchop off of his belly, he held one of his feet up with the shell held tightly in his stubby appendage, preparing to toss it like a discus towards the rope. It may not be sharp to cut it down in one go, but it may be enough to wear it down. With precise aiming and a mighty shout, the Oshawott tossed the scalchop towards the rope just above Sam's toes, maybe even putting a bit of spin to it. By now, in the short seconds after it was tossed, he only hoped, as the irreplaceable beach object made a glancing slice at the side of the rope.
