"That's right!" Syd answered Sam's question steadfastly, beating his hand on the scalchop located on his stomach. He wouldn't know what to do if he lost it. "And no thanks, Purrloin guy! The only scream you'll be hearing from us is one of victory!" He yelled back, grinning with confidence and then turning straight over to Sam. "So, you've gotten here first. Where to this 'horrible spider'?" He asked. He didn't doubt that it was real or not, but he just wanted to challenge himself for once.
"Also.." He turned around. "That Purrloin guy is such a creep.. I bet he wanted something of yours.."

"Yeah... I bet." Sam whispered, nodding, "Can't trust any pokemon in this village."
Looking back to the Purrloin, she stuck her tongue out at him, "Well, cat, I guess this is the last we'll see of you for now. If you ask really nicely, we might share some of our spoils!" Looking around, she found that behind her was the path that led to the section of the forest that both of them cleared. So that must have meant that the other, slightly less cleared but still visible path ahead would lead them deeper.
"The 'spider' must be this way!" Sam called, pointing to the path with her flipper. With that, rushed ahead, going right into the forest.
--
Some moments later and the Piplup staggered out the same way she came in, marks and scratches all over her body. She fell face down before rolling on her back, dazed and somewhat out of it, "Uggh..."

Syd was surprised when she ran in first, scurrying right after with little to no trouble.
--
What the two ran into certainly was. Syd was just as wounded and winded as Sam was, if not more. He had knelt down in fatigue. "That.. That thing wasn't so tough.." He said, but obviously the facade doesn't help. "I can take it out the next time.. Ow.."

Snickering to himself, the Purrloin moseyed off to entertain himself while he waited. He picked a few pockets of unsuspecting Pokemon, annoyed the heck out of a local, and laughed as some tourist almost wet themselves from a Gastly's prank. Ah, yes, while he hated the town's inhabitants, there was never a truly dull moment for him. Glancing up at the sky, Kuranosuke let out a purring chuckle. "They should be coming back right about now."
Turning on his paws, he dropped down on all fours, stalking up to the building he had originally been beside before meeting the two water types. Tail flicking back and forth, he sat down, licking a paw and swiping it over his mouth before his ears perked up, catching the sounds of staggered running and heavy breathing. A grin formed on his face as he watched the two water types staggered into town. With a purr, he stalked forwards, tail high in the air as he stopped just before the two, a smug look upon his face. "I told you so."

Coming to, Sam slowly sat up, noticing that her partner was just as beaten as she was, and... the cat. What could he possibly want, "What? Have you..." she said this in-between breaths as she got herself up, "... been waiting all this... time for us?" she shot an annoyed look towards him. A thought occurred to her. She shook her head, at first immediately rejecting it, but considered it again.
"Um, uh..." the usually confident pokemon was now hesitant, "Well... might you, uh..." she walked over towards her partner, nudging him in the shoulder and hoping he might ask a question that she couldn't sacrifice the pride to, "Syd, could you, uh... ask him to join us?" she whispered to the Oshawott.

He looked at her as if she were crazy. "Why do I gotta do it..?" He whispered back, before dismissing the question before he got an answer. "You, Purrloin guy.. You mind if you can help us out with that monster?" He quickly reeled out, standing back on one foot.

The smug look seemed to only increase as the two seemed hesitant. Waiting? Oh, no. He was just killing time, and it was quite obvious to him how long it would take for inexperienced tourists to come back after trying to challenge a spider. His tail flicked and curled, a single ear twitching before he answered. "With all the noise of thrashing through the forest to get back here, anyone would have been waiting for your return."
With a grin, he watched closely as the Piplup whispered to the Oshawott. Tourists were all the same. His grin widened at the male water type's question. Standing up on two legs and resting a paw on his hip, the feline tilted his head up and to one side, flashing his canines and narrowing his eyes. "I might just do that. You'll need to heal yourrr wound beforrre we go, though." His purr returned as his mood somewhat lifted. Finally, he was going to have something to do.

"Well, yeah." Sam said, "Of course we were going to do that. I mean, not that we couldn't go for another round," she looked over herself and Syd, "buuut it's always good to have full health just in case."
She looked to Syd, then to the cat pokemon, "If we're going to be traveling together," she said, trying to sound official, "we might as well know each other's names. I'm Samantha, but please, just call me Sam."

Syd stood up as best as he could, trying to look presentable to introduce himself. He didn't know why he tried; the both of them lost their dignity coming back out. He blinked his girly eyes and slammed his stubby hand on his scalchop. "And my name's Sydney, but please call me Syd." He said in a more begging tone.

Introductions? Ah, yes. He hadn't properly introduced himself yet. Where were his manners? The feline rolled his eyes at the thought, softly scoffing to himself. Pointed ears twitched as the two gave their names, taking note of the Oshawott's plea to call him Syd. Hm... Nah. Twitching his tail and his posture becoming even more relaxed, the feline tilted his head back with a sly grin spreading across his face. "It's a pleasurrre to meet you, Sam, Sydney." Chuckling to himself, he finally got around to his name. "My name is Kurrranosuke the Grrreat." Look at him, making himself seem more high and mighty than he was. Oh well.

Syd's mostly pseudo-grin fell flat into a displeased poker face as soon as his full name was used. What an inconsiderate jerk! He could at least say his nickname once before shifting to his regular name. Sydney reverted back to his "this guy's a jerk" face as he introduced himself. Being Syd, he doesn't get used to names until a considerable while, and by now, he really wanted to hurry and go heal up. "Yeah, I think I'm just gonna call you Kura for the time being." He suddenly said, shattering whatever upper-classiness Kuranosuke was trying to accomplish for himself, poking idly at his cheek's bandage. Oddly enough, he wasn't even trying to get back at Kura with the name thing as he uttered that. He just had trouble with long or otherwise hard-to-pronounce names.
"With that, I think we're done with introductions!" He exclaimed, arms akimbo to his body. "So, as mentioned, let's shove off to get me and Sam healed, huh?"

Sam rolled her own eyes at his introduction, "More like 'Kura the jerk'..." she mumbled to herself, finding that she was more in the mood to get back to the port and heal up rather than stay and have a battle of remarks with the cat.
She nodded, looking to the exit out of the village... hopefully it'd be easier getting out than it was getting in, "Alright," she said, placing her flippers in a sort of 'hands on hips' position, "and then we'll all meet up at misty forest." She turned to the cat pokemon, "Don't be late, Kur... rr... rrr..." she found herself still unable to make the purring sound, "... Kura."

The insults and nicknames didn't phase the tom as he casually licked a paw, swiping it over his ear. Sticks and stones, sticks and stones. The feline chuckled, eyes flicking between the two. "Oh, don't worry. I wouldn't miss it for the worrrld." With that, the Purrloin dropped back down to all fours, stalking away into the shadows with his head and tail held high. It wasn't like he needed to get ready or anything. No, he just wanted to make it seem like he did. He would get a head start and scout of the forest beforehand.
